The Tata Punch SUV, unveiled, will be launched on October 20

Given the features offered and the proven used car platform (similar to Altroz), Punch will focus on Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite

Tata Motors on October 4 unveiled the Punch, a small SUV while opening a similar reservation, which plans to launch it on October 20. This will be the first launch of new products by the company this year.

The Mumbai-based company says Punch will create a white space in the passenger car market which means the SUV will not be competitive soon. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Mahindra KUV100 NXT are state-of-the-art SUVs in India.

While Punch will be placed under Tata Nexon (Rs 7.28 lakh), its prices and other similar details will be disclosed on its launch date. Buyers can book Punch for Rs 21,000 from October 4, in addition to the company's management.

“It is a product of white space and will pass through other parts. The venue for the Punch will be very large, ”said Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Marketing, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors in a media briefing.

Given the features offered and a proven car platform (similar to Altroz), Punch will focus on Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnate, both of which cost Rs 5.6 lakh for the basic model.

Like other models for less than Rs 6.5 lakh, the Punch will only come with a petrol engine at the moment.

The to-do list includes two airbags, ABS with EBD, engine suspension, Eco and City driving modes, 90 degree opening doors, rear apartment, front controls, five-inch infotainment system -7, rear camera, voice commands, cruise control, driver seat ready, ORVM automatic folding and temperature control.

The seven-color SUV will come with the same 1.2-liter petrol engine naturally desirable as seen in Nexon. The company will keep its options open to introduce a turbocharged type and a full range of electronics with a customer-based response in the future. While the exact power output figures were not allocated by the company, Punch could go from 0-60 kmph in the desired 6.5 seconds.
Tata Motors also claims that Punch has tested more than 2 million kilometers installed on 150 prototypes. These are conducted in tropical climates, with 50 degrees Fahrenheit [50 ° C] in Rajasthan and cold climates, dropping to 10 degrees Celsius in Ladakh. The car will be made in Pune.
