Man City are planning to assess the fitness of the injured players ahead of the Chelsea game

Manchester City will give its returning players as much time as possible to prove their worth in the Chelsea game.

Absent Blues Ilkay Gundogan, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Aleks ZInchenko and Rodri in a week-long win over Wycombe and Pep Guardiola have confirmed that some of them will miss the match.

However, the number - including Stones and Laporte - has returned to training this week and anyone in contention to form a match-fixing team will be tested on Saturday before a decision is made during lunch.

"Some came back a little bit to practice," he said. "Tomorrow we decide whether they are ready to play or not.

"Not all [in the conflict], some are coming back; we will see how they behave when they are trained and tomorrow we will see."

City want to get one over Chelsea after losing the last three games against Thomas Tuchel's side, including the Champions League final in May.

Guardiola doesn't learn much from that defeat hat-trick and said his players will be preparing for the last three games before the next international break with the same attitude.
