The Kolkata Knight riders were fined after maintaining a slow pace when they played the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2021 against the Mumbai Indians at Zited Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
A statement issued by the IPL reads, "As it was the team's second offense this season under the IPL's Code of Conduct on minor offenses, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan was fined Rs 24 lakhs."
Some XI members who play are fined individually under Rs 6 lakhs or 25% of their match fee.
In the match, Rahul Tripathi and Venkatesh Iyer scored well in their fifties to lead KKR to a comfortable seven-wicket win against Mumbai Indian champions.
Chasing 156, KKR produced a solid effort to beat Tripathi (74 not out off 42 balls) and Iyer (53 off 30 balls) by putting 88 runs in the second wicket to go home side by 15.1 over. . Jasprit Bumrah took all three MI wickets, giving away 43 runs in his four overs.
